Old-Time Oven Peach Cobbler

Ingredients:

1/2 cup unsalted butter (1 stick)

1 cup all-purpose flour

1 cup granulated sugar

1 tablespoon baking powder

1/4 teaspoon salt

1 cup milk

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1 can (29 oz) sliced peaches in heavy syrup (or 5–6 fresh peaches, peeled and sliced + 1/2 cup sugar)

1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon (optional)

1 tablespoon raw sugar for sprinkling on top (optional)

Directions:

Preheat the Oven: Set your oven to 350°F (175°C). Place the butter in a 9×13-inch baking dish and melt it in the oven while preheating.

Make the Batter: In a mixing bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt. Stir in milk and vanilla extract until just combined.

Layer the Cobbler: Pour the batter over the melted butter in the baking dish—do not stir.

Add the Peaches: Spoon the peaches with syrup (or fresh sugared peaches) evenly over the batter. Again, do not stir.

Top with Cinnamon & Sugar: If using, sprinkle ground cinnamon and raw sugar over the top for extra flavor and crunch.

Bake: Place in the oven and bake for 45–50 minutes until the top is golden brown and crispy and the center is cooked through.

Cool & Serve: Let the cobbler cool for 10–15 minutes before serving warm. Enjoy with a scoop of vanilla ice cream for the ultimate treat!
