Crochet Pattern — Burgundy Christmas Spiral Tree Ornament

Materials
- Burgundy or deep-red yarn
- Cream or beige yarn
- Gold yarn or metallic thread
- Crochet hook suitable for your yarn

1. Spiral Tree Body
Using burgundy yarn:
Row 1: ch 31.
Row 2: sc in the 2nd ch from hook and across. (30)
Row 3: ch 2, hdc across. (30)
Row 4: ch 2, 2 hdc in each stitch across. (60)
Row 5: ch 2, hdc across. (60)
Continue adding stitches gradually along the outer edge so the strip begins to naturally curl.
Work several additional rows of hdc, keeping the center edge slightly narrower than the outside edge. The finished piece should form a long, flexible ribbon that can be wrapped into a spiral.
FO and leave a long tail for assembly.
2. Shape the Spiral
Lay the burgundy strip flat and gently coil it from the top downward.
Wrap each section slightly wider than the one above it, creating the Christmas-tree spiral shape shown in the reference.
Use a tapestry needle and small stitches on the back to secure the spiral at several points.
Do not sew the entire strip flat—the raised spiral shape is what gives the ornament its dimensional appearance.
3. Decorative Beads
Sew small pearl-colored beads and gold beads along the outer edge of the burgundy spiral.
Space them irregularly for a handmade Christmas ornament appearance.
Secure every bead firmly on the back.
4. Top Star
Attach a large gold or metallic star at the top of the spiral.
Create a small hanging loop with burgundy or beige yarn and connect it securely to the top of the star and the spiral.
5. Bottom Bell
Attach a small decorative bell to the bottom point of the spiral using a jump ring or strong yarn loop.
Make sure the bell hangs freely beneath the ornament.
6. Hanging Loop
Using cream or burgundy yarn:
ch 25–30.
FO and attach both ends securely to the top of the ornament.
Adjust the chain length according to where you plan to hang the decoration.
7. Assembly
- Crochet the long burgundy spiral strip.
- Shape it into a loose Christmas-tree spiral.
- Secure the spiral from the back at several points.
- Add pearl-colored and gold beads around the edges.
- Attach the large star to the top.
- Add the decorative bell to the bottom.
- Attach the hanging loop.
- Gently arrange the spiral layers so they hang evenly.
Finishing
