Cloverleaf Dinner Rolls

Cloverleaf Dinner Rolls

Ingredients

  • 3 1/2 to 4 cups all-purpose flour

  • 1 packet (2 1/4 tsp) active dry yeast

  • 1 cup warm milk (110°F / 43°C)

  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar

  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted

  • 1 large egg, room temperature

  • 1 teaspoon salt

  • Extra melted butter for brushing

Instructions

  1. Activate the yeast
In a large bowl, combine warm milk, sugar, and yeast. Let sit 5–10 minutes until foamy.

  2. Make the dough
Add melted butter, egg, salt, and 2 cups flour. Mix well.
Gradually add remaining flour until a soft dough forms.

  3. Knead & rise
Knead on a floured surface 6–8 minutes until smooth and elastic.
Place in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise 1 hour or until doubled.

  4. Shape cloverleaf rolls
Punch down dough. Divide into 36 small balls.
Grease a muffin tin and place 3 balls per cup.
    Brush lightly with melted butter.

  5. Second rise
Cover and let rise 30–40 minutes until puffy.

  6. Bake
Bake at 375°F (190°C) for 15–18 minutes, until golden brown.

  7. Finish
Brush tops with melted butter and serve warm.

Tips

  • For extra softness, replace 1/2 cup milk with heavy cream.

  • Sprinkle tops with flaky salt or herbs before baking.

  • These freeze beautifully—just warm before serving.
