Ingredients:
12 mozzarella sticks (string cheese)
1 cup all-purpose flour
2 large eggs, beaten
2 tablespoons milk
1 1/2 cups seasoned breadcrumbs
1 teaspoon dried Italian seasoning
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
Vegetable oil, for frying
Marinara sauce (for dipping)
Directions:
Prepare the Cheese: Cut the mozzarella sticks in half for smaller portions, or leave them whole if desired. Freeze the sticks for at least 1 hour to prevent melting during frying.
Set Up the Breading Station: In one bowl, place flour. In a second bowl, whisk eggs and milk. In a third bowl, combine breadcrumbs, Italian seasoning, and garlic powder.
Bread the Mozzarella: Dip each frozen mozzarella stick into the flour, coating it completely. Shake off excess, then dip into the egg mixture, and finally coat with breadcrumbs. Repeat the egg and breadcrumb steps for an extra-thick coating.
Fry the Cheese Sticks: Heat oil in a deep skillet or pot to 350°F (175°C). Fry the sticks in batches for about 1-2 minutes, until golden and crisp. Remove with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels.
Serve: Arrange the mozzarella sticks on a plate with marinara sauce for dipping. Serve hot and enjoy the gooey goodness!
