Make 2 eyes.

Sew the mustard circle onto the cream eye and the black pupil onto the center.
Add a tiny white stitched highlight.

7. Owl Beak
Using mustard yarn:

Fold slightly and sew the beak beneath the eyes.
8. Layered Wing Feathers
Make approximately 12–16 large feather pieces in green, cream, mustard, tan and brown.
For each feather:

Row 5: dc across.
Row 6: dc, ch 2, sl st along the outer edge to create a decorative scalloped finish.

Layer several feathers together and sew them along their upper edges, leaving the lower sections free.
9. Small Feather Motifs
Make smaller feathers in cream, brown, green and mustard.

11. Mustard Feather Details
Make small raised mustard pieces.

Fold slightly and sew near the top of selected lower feathers.
12. Assembly
- Lay the brown body flat.
- Sew the cream textured chest onto the center.
- Attach both large layered eyes.
- Sew the mustard beak between the eyes.
- Arrange the large green, brown, cream and mustard wing feathers on both sides.
- Overlap the feathers so the edges create a layered effect.
- Add smaller feathers between the larger pieces.
- Attach the elongated tail feathers underneath the body.
- Add the mustard details to the lower feather sections.
- Secure all pieces firmly from the back.
Finishing
Weave in all loose ends and gently shape the feathers. For use as a floor rug, add a non-slip backing to help keep the finished owl securely in place.
