Crochet Pattern — Hanging Christmas Snowflake Spiral

Materials
- White worsted or cotton yarn
- Small crochet hook suitable for your yarn
- Tapestry needle
- Scissors
- White thread or thin yarn for hanging
- Small white star ornaments or crocheted stars
- Optional small beads for decoration

4. Spiral Hanging Strip
Using white yarn:
Row 1: ch 10.
Row 2: sc across. (9)
Row 3: ch 2, hdc in each stitch across. (9)
Row 4: ch 2, 2 hdc in each stitch across. (18)
Row 5: ch 2, 2 hdc in each stitch across. (36)
FO and weave in the end.
The increased stitches naturally create a curved strip. Gently stretch and twist the strip into a long spiral shape.
For a longer decoration, repeat the same strip and join the sections together with sl sts.
5. Hanging Loop
At the top of the spiral:
Attach white yarn.
Ch 25.
Sl st into the beginning point to form a hanging loop.
FO and secure the end.
6. Crochet Snowflakes
Make approximately 6–10 snowflakes in different sizes.
Rnd 1: MR, 12 sc. (12)
Rnd 2: sl st in next stitch, ch 3, 2 dc in same stitch, ch 3, sl st in same stitch.
Repeat around to create six snowflake arms.
FO.
For smaller snowflakes, use fewer chains and smaller stitches.
Add a small loop of white thread to the top of each snowflake for hanging.
7. Crochet Stars
Make approximately 5–8 small stars.
Rnd 1: MR, 5 sc. (5)
Rnd 2: ch 3, dc, ch 2, sl st into the next stitch.
Repeat around to form five points.
FO.
Shape each point gently with your fingers.
8. Assembly
- Shape the long white strip into a loose spiral.
- Attach the hanging loop securely at the top.
- Space the snowflakes along the spiral at different heights.
- Hang some snowflakes closer to the spiral and others slightly farther away.
- Add small stars between the snowflakes.
- Use white thread or thin yarn so the decorations appear to float.
- Check that the decorations are evenly balanced.
- Secure every hanging piece with small knots and weave in the ends.
Finishing
Gently arrange the spiral so it hangs naturally. Adjust the position of the snowflakes and stars until the decoration has a light, elegant Christmas look. Hang it near a window, Christmas tree, doorway, or ceiling for a beautiful winter-inspired display.
