Crochet Pattern — Snowflake Spiral Hanging Ornament
Materials
- White crochet yarn
- Pale blue crochet yarn
- Small amount of silver or white yarn
- Crochet hook suitable for your yarn
- Tapestry needle

1. Spiral Hanging Strip
Using pale blue yarn:
Row 1: ch 80.
Row 2: sc across. (79)
Row 3: 2 sc in each stitch across to create a naturally curling strip.
FO.
Gently twist the finished strip into a long spiral shape.
For a longer decoration, increase the starting chain. Secure the spiral at several points so it keeps its shape.
2. Large Crochet Snowflake
Using white yarn:
Rnd 1: MR, 6 sc. (6)
Rnd 2: inc around. (12)
Rnd 3: sc, ch 3, skip 1 stitch around.
Rnd 4: In each ch-3 space, work 1 sc, 1 hdc, 3 dc, 1 hdc, 1 sc.
Repeat around to create six decorative snowflake sections.
FO.
Using pale blue yarn, add a delicate round of slip stitches around the outer edge.
3. Snowflake Points
For each point, attach white yarn to the outer section.
Row 1: ch 5.
Row 2: sl st back along the chain.
Row 3: ch 6, sl st back down the chain.
Repeat around each snowflake section to create fine pointed details.
FO and weave in the ends.
4. Small Hanging Snowflakes
Make 2–4 smaller snowflakes using white yarn.
MR, ch 2, 1 dc, ch 3, sl st into the ring.
Repeat six times around the center.
Pull the ring closed and FO.
Add a pale-blue outline if desired.
5. Decorative Beads
Attach small pearl-like beads around the large snowflake.
Add a few beads to the edges of the spiral strip.
For dangling decorations, make short chains and attach crystal beads or small silver bells to the ends.
Secure every bead firmly.
6. Bottom Tassel
Cut several long strands of pale blue and white yarn.
Fold them together and tie securely at the top.
Wrap a separate piece of yarn around the upper section to form the tassel head.
Trim the ends evenly.
Attach the tassel to the bottom of the spiral.
7. Assembly
- Attach the large crochet snowflake to the top of the spiral.
- Secure the spiral into an elegant vertical shape.
- Add small snowflakes along the spiral.
- Attach pearl and crystal beads around the snowflakes.
- Add small silver bells to selected dangling strands.
- Attach the blue-and-white tassel to the bottom.
- Add a strong hanging cord at the top.
- Gently shape the snowflake points and spiral before displaying.
Finishing
Lightly block the snowflake so the points stay open and defined. Arrange the beads evenly and gently stretch the spiral into its final shape. Hang it near a Christmas tree, window, doorway, or winter-themed display for an elegant handmade crochet decoration.
